From ‘criticizing IT’ to a structural collaboration between business and IT: Pieter Halenbeek has had an eventful and interesting period since he took office as IT Director and CIO of the Chamber of Commerce (KVK) in 2019. The maturity of IT needed significant improvement: there were challenges such as renewing the heavily outdated system from 1990 that formed the digital foundation of the Trade Register. Now, with an organization inspired by the Spotify model - where business and IT come together - Halenbeek can look ahead. “Now that IT belongs to everyone, we are tackling it together.”
